Prague 4 is a district of the Capital City of Prague with about 135,700 inhabitants.[1] It includes the whole cadastral areas of Braník, Hodkovičky, Krč, Lhotka and Podolí, parts of the territory of Nusle, Michle and Záběhlice, and a few buildings in Vinohrady.[1] The district office is based in rented premises near Budějovická metro station.[2]
2026 local elections and the coalition
The assembly has 45 members.[1] In the 2026 elections, the Spolu alliance (ODS, TOP 09) won 33.7 percent of the vote and 17 seats, the Společně pro změnu coalition (STAN, KDU-ČSL, Zelení, Praha 4 sobě) 32.5 percent and 16 seats, ANO seven seats and the Czech Pirate Party five; turnout was 44.06 percent.[1]
As in the previous term, the coalition will be formed by SPOLU pro PRAHU 4 (ODS and TOP 09) and ANO. Their leaders Ondřej Kubín (ODS) and Jan Hušbauer (ANO) signed a coalition agreement for the period 2026 to 2030 on 19 October 2026.[1][2] Kubín remains mayor and the coalition has a majority of 24 votes in the assembly.[1][2] The council is to have nine members, five from SPOLU and four from ANO; the councillors are to be elected by the assembly members at the inaugural meeting, which is to take place in early November 2026.[2]
Kubín said that the priority is to manage development around the metro D stations under construction, and he wants to negotiate with Pražská developerská společnost about building a town hall that could be built on Na Strži street.[1][2] Hušbauer named the modernisation of schools, social and health care, and the management of public space and sports facilities as ANO's priorities.[1]
Paid parking zones
Paid parking zones were first introduced in selected places in the territory of Prague 4 in 2018 and 2019.[3][4] The district announced that it would begin changing the system gradually from 15 October 2026.[3][4] The zones are to apply from Sunday 17:00 to Friday 17:00, so visitors are to pay at night as well, whereas until now parking after 20:00 was free.[3][4] Some of the mixed purple zones are to be changed to blue residential ones.[3][4] The replacement of signage begins in parts of Podolí and Nusle and is to last until spring 2027.[3][4] Jaroslav Míth (ODS), the councillor for transport, said that the adjustment is to be as much as possible in favour of the district's residents.[3][4]
The town hall has also launched a poll on introducing zones in other areas, including Hodkovičky, Novodvorská, Dolní Krč, Tempo, Krč and Starý and Nový Spořilov; residents can vote until 30 October 2026.[3][4]
