Information on processing

How we handle your data

Who holds the data, what it is, why we keep it and for how long, and how to have it corrected or erased. This is the information required by Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.

Controller

The responsible person and the registered address are being added — see Legal notice.

What we collect when you only read

The site sets no cookies and uses no third-party counters: no Google Analytics, no social pixels. We count visits from our own server records.

  • the page address, the day and time, the browser type and the referring page;
  • the IP address — shortened, so that an individual cannot be identified from it;
  • records are deleted after 30 days.

Legal basis: the legitimate interest in running and protecting the site (Art. 6(1)(f)).

What we collect when you write to us

The address you give and the text of your message — so that we can answer. The answer is part of the matter: every decision is explained to the person who asked. We keep the request and the answer for 24 months and then delete them.

E-mail newsletter

When you enter an e-mail address in the "Novinky e-mailem" form (on the home page and in the chronicle), we store:

  • the e-mail address;
  • the date and time of signing up;
  • the language your browser sends (the first value of the Accept-Language header) and the page where you signed up.

We do not store your IP address or any other device data with the sign-up.

Purpose: to send you Praha-X news by e-mail. We use the address for nothing else, give it to nobody and send no third-party advertising to it.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given by submitting the form. You may withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing before the withdrawal.

How long: until you unsubscribe. After that the address is erased from the list.

How to unsubscribe: write to us through the form or at — we erase the address within one month at the latest. There is no one-click unsubscribe yet.

Address check: sign-ups are not yet confirmed by e-mail. If your address is on the list without your knowledge, write to us and we will delete it.

When we write about people

The encyclopedia and the chronicle describe public affairs, and people act in them. We hold to three rules: materiality instead of completeness (a chronology of an object yes, a dossier on a person no), we do not name minors, and we name the stage of proceedings precisely — "suspect", "accused", "defendant"; a word about guilt only after a final judgment, with a link to it.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability. One door: write to us. We answer within one month; the period may be extended by two months, of which we will inform you. A complaint may be lodged with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz).

Who else gets the data

Nobody for their own purposes. The site runs with a hosting provider in the European Union, which processes data only for us and on our instruction.
