A district of Brno with more than 25,000 residents, which after the 2026 elections is to be led by a five-party coalition with Michal Chaloupka as mayor.

Brno-Líšeň is a district of the statutory city of Brno and one of the largest in Brno; more than 25,000 people live there. The district council has 29 members.
Municipal elections 2026
In the elections of October 2026 the outgoing district leadership won 12 seats, the most of any group. A majority in the 29-member council requires at least 15 votes, so the make-up of the leadership was decided in post-election talks. The outgoing mayor Břetislav Štefan remains without a majority, although by his own account he believed that voters wanted him to stay in office.
For the 2026 to 2030 term, five groups holding 16 seats have concluded a coalition: Noví lidovci, ODS, TOP 09 with independents, Sousedé z Líšně, ANO and STAN. The agreement regulates the distribution of posts, powers and the investment priorities of the district.
New leadership
The new mayor is to be Michal Chaloupka, a 23-year-old member of Noví lidovci, who would be the youngest district mayor in the history of Brno. The previous record was held by Martin Žák, who in 2006 led the town hall in Kníničky at the age of 24. Chaloupka has been a councillor since he was nineteen and also worked on the finance committee. His group won five seats instead of the previous two. On the district board he is to be responsible for finance, social and health matters, family policy, heritage protection and waste management.
The deputy mayors are to be Martin Příborský (ODS), Ondřej Zendulka (Sousedé z Líšně) and Iva Kremitovská (ANO). All four members of the leadership will be full-time. Tereza Karafiátová of STAN will be a board member.
According to Chaloupka, the coalition does not want to cancel projects that work and intends to build on plans already under way. It promises a change in the culture of decision-making and of communication with residents, so that it is clear in advance what is being prepared, how much it costs and who is responsible.
The previous term
In the past term the council was marked by major disputes. Four years ago Štefan formed a coalition with two representatives of ANO and the SPD movement, which was unusual even by Brno standards. The SPD did not make it into the council this year.
