About the project

Praha-X is a chronicle and encyclopedia of Czechia. It starts in Prague and follows all fourteen regions. Every fact carries its source.

What you will find here

The chronicle: what mattered in the Czech media, day by day. Each line is written in our own words and links to the reports it is based on.

The encyclopedia: entries on places, people, companies, institutions and events. An entry grows as sources accumulate.

The regions: the chronicle, entries and media of each of the fourteen regions on a page of their own.

The site is written in Czech. The English and Russian sides are being filled in step by step.

One rule applies everywhere: no source, no claim.

How the chronicle is made

The Praha-X newsroom follows 85 news sources: national media, regional dailies and portals, the regional stations of Czech Radio. Press releases from public authorities and companies come on top.

An event enters the chronicle when it is picked up by at least 2 outlets from different publishers. On a busy day the bar rises so that there are no more than 12 lines.

A regional event has its own way in. It is enough for 2 outlets from the same region to pick it up. The regions keep a place in the chronicle even on days when the national news belongs to Prague and the government.

Each line is written in our own words. We do not reuse the headline or the text of someone else's article.

Artificial intelligence and the newsroom

Chronicle lines, first drafts of entries and translations are prepared by artificial intelligence on the newsroom's brief.

Such text is published before a person has read it and is labelled as such until then. An editor reads and corrects it after publication. A verified entry names the person who read it.

The label is required by Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence.

Sources

We work with what has been published openly: news reports, press releases, official notice boards, registers, archives and digitised newspapers.

From someone else's publication we take the fact, not the text. We describe the event in our own words and link to the original page.

We do not spread media on the EU sanctions list, not even by a link.

How we read other websites is described on the page for website operators.

Corrections and erasure

A factual error, a reply to something written about you, erasure of personal data or a source we should know about: there is one door for all of it, write to us. We reply within one month, always with reasons.

Who publishes the site

The publisher, the responsible person and the contact are listed in the legal notice. How we handle personal data is described on the privacy page.
