Starostové is a political movement that won the most seats in the first round of the Senate elections in October 2026. All 14 of its candidates were elected or advanced to the second round. According to the Czech News Agency, the movement thus won the first round of the Senate elections again after six years.[1][2]
The senators elected for the movement already in the first round were Jan Sobotka and Zbyněk Linhart, who won the seat repeatedly; Linhart succeeded in the Děčín constituency. In total, five candidates from various parties were elected in the first round, which equalled the record from previous elections.[1][2] Former minister Martin Dvořák (STAN) advanced to the second round in the Hradec Králové area from first place with just under 25.13 percent of the votes, the lowest share among the advancing constituency winners.[1]
By comparison, of the 24 candidates of ANO, 13 advanced to the second round, and of the 14 candidates of ODS, nine. Average turnout in the first round exceeded 43 percent, the second highest value.[1][2] The second round takes place a week later.[1]
