On 13 October 2026 the existing coalition in Jablonec nad Nisou signed a memorandum on cooperation for 2026 to 2030, and the winning ANO remains in opposition.

Representatives of Starostové pro Liberecký kraj (SLK), ODS, the Společně pro Jablonec grouping and the Czech Pirate Party signed a memorandum on 13 October 2026 on continuing coalition cooperation in Jablonec nad Nisou for the period 2026 to 2030. The mayor remains the ODS leader Miloš Vele. The winning ANO movement remains in opposition.[1][2][3]
Election result
ANO won the municipal elections with 26.92 percent of the vote and defended nine of 30 seats. SLK won seven seats, four more than before, ODS four, Společně pro Jablonec and the Czech Pirate Party three each, and SPD and the new grouping Spolu se Sportovci, in which TOP 09 joined with Unie pro sport a zdraví and independent candidates, two each. The coalition has 17 council members. After the 2022 elections it had a narrow majority of 16 seats and lasted the whole term. Turnout was 38.55 percent.[1]
Allocation of posts
The city board will remain nine-member, with three seats for SLK and two for each of the other groupings. The SLK leader Jana Hamplová remains deputy mayor for the humanitarian sphere, Lenka Opočenská (Společně pro Jablonec) for environment and strategy, and Jakub Chuchlík (Czech Pirate Party) for city development and digitalisation. Petr Roubíček (ODS) as deputy for property management will be replaced by the former mayor and ODS deputy in parliament Petr Beitl.[1][3]
Hamplová said that although SLK have the most seats in the coalition and she had been spoken of as mayor, she put her claim aside so that the coalition could be formed.[1][2] The partners want to finalise the coalition agreement and programme statement within two weeks and present them to the public at the end of October.[1][2][3]
Position of ANO
The ANO leader and former mayor Milan Kroupa said ANO would be a valid opposition. According to Hamplová, the coalition wants to offer ANO cooperation outside the coalition.[2][3]
