Martin Dvořák (STAN) is a former minister for European affairs and a former mayor.[1][2] He was mayor of Hradec Králové from 1990 to 1998 and a minister in the cabinet of Petr Fiala. [5]

In the 2026 Senate elections he ran in district no. 45 Hradec Králové for the Demokraté pro Hradecko grouping, which consists of STAN, the Czech Pirate Party, TOP 09, the Greens and the Hradecký demokratický klub.[1] According to Czech News Agency projections, he advanced to the second round, in which he will face Zuzana Ceralová Petrofová (ODS).[2] Turnout was 45 percent and seven candidates ran. [2] Dvořák won 25.13 percent of the votes and Ceralová Petrofová 21.94 percent. [2] According to Novinky.cz, the incumbent senator Jan Holásek was not among those advancing.[4] Jana Hůlková (ANO) finished third and Monika Nebeská fourth. [4] During the count Dvořák moved from fourth place to the lead. [5]

In an interview for Info.cz of 8 October 2026, Dvořák said that a coalition of any current opposition party with Andrej Babiš would bring not stability but a weakening of partners and concessions on fundamental principles.[3] By his own account, he visited all 65 municipalities of the district during the campaign.
