Jana Hamplová is a politician active in Jablonec nad Nisou, where she leads the Starostové ticket for the Liberec Region (SLK). At the Jablonec city hall she holds the post of deputy mayor for social affairs.[1]
2026 municipal elections
In the municipal elections of October 2026, Hamplová received more preferential votes from voters than any other candidate.[3] Under her leadership, the SLK movement finished second in the elections with more than 21 percent of the vote and won seven seats out of thirty, four more than in the previous term. The winner of the elections, with almost 27 percent of the vote, was the ANO movement, which retained nine seats but remained in opposition.[1][3]
Coalition negotiations and resignation from the post of mayor
After the elections, there was discussion that Hamplová could become mayor, since the SLK had won the most seats among the coalition parties.[1] However, Hamplová made her potential post of mayor available in order to preserve the existing coalition. "Personal ambitions have no role to play in the city's development and future, and so I have made my post of mayor available so that this coalition can be formed," she said.[2] She added that the SLK had preferred to continue the existing cooperation even before the elections, because of projects already under way from the previous term.[2][3]
On 13 October 2026, together with representatives of ODS, Společně pro Jablonec and the Czech Pirate Party, she signed a memorandum on continuing the coalition for the 2026–2030 term. Miloš Vele of ODS remains mayor.[1] Under the agreement, the SLK will keep three seats on the nine-member city council, while the other coalition parties will each have two.[1] Hamplová remains deputy mayor for social affairs.[3]
Relationship with the opposition
Hamplová said that the coalition also wants to cooperate with the ANO movement outside the coalition framework. "We do count on them, we want to cooperate with them, but not within the coalition," she said, adding that ANO could, in her view, bring interesting input to the city's leadership.[2]
