Michal Strnad is a Czech businessman, the owner of the arms group CSG.[1][3] The news site E15 describes him as one of the richest Czechs.[3] According to E15, in 2025 he was finalising the purchase of the football club Viktoria Plzeň.[3]
The Akipia investment group
In 2026 he founded the Akipia investment group together with the lawyer Tomáš Brzobohatý and the investment manager Marek Šmrha. All three are members of its board, and Šmrha is the chief executive.[2][3] According to E15, Strnad had originally been working on creating a family investment office independent of CSG's industrial activities; an investment group was created instead.[3] The group does not invest in the defence industry, which remains the domain of CSG.[1]
In August 2026 Akipia announced its entry into the development of the Prague district of Bubny-Zátory, where it acquired a 35 per cent stake and cooperates with Penta Real Estate and J&T.[1][3] The Akipia team also took part in the transaction in which the Czech investment company Lumina Crown acquired roughly 14 per cent of the Italian tyre maker Pirelli.[1][2]
Roma Tower in Warsaw
At the beginning of October 2026 an agreement was concluded on Akipia's entry into the Roma Tower skyscraper project in central Warsaw, where the group becomes the main investor.[3] The building is to be 170 metres high, with 48 floors above ground, six underground floors and 357 apartments; the total value of the project is reported to be up to CZK 20 billion.[1][3] The other partners are the Polish companies Liebrecht & wooD and BBI Development and the Pro Bonum Foundation.[1][3] The project has a building permit, construction is planned to start in autumn 2026, and the sale of apartments is to begin in 2027.[1][3] The interiors are being designed by the Italian studio Pininfarina.[1][3]
