AKIPIA is an investment group based in Czechia, backed by the entrepreneur Michal Strnad, the lawyer Tomáš Brzobohatý and the investor Marek Šmrha. The group is engaged mainly in real-estate projects in Prague and Warsaw.[1][2]

Founding of the group

Michal Strnad, who does business in the arms industry, originally intended to create a family investment office that would operate independently of his industrial holding CSG and serve to diversify his private assets. Instead, an investment group was established straight away by combining three independent investors.[1]

Tomáš Brzobohatý previously worked as a lawyer cooperating with the entrepreneur Petr Kellner. Marek Šmrha was investment director of the Penta group and moved to Strnad in July 2025, at a time when Strnad was completing the purchase of the football club Viktoria Plzeň.[1] All three are members of the AKIPIA board, and Šmrha is the group’s executive head and acts as its managing partner.[1][3]

The Bubny-Zátory project

In August 2026, AKIPIA announced its entry into the development project to transform the Prague district of Bubny-Zátory. The group acquired a 35 per cent stake in the project, half is held by Penta Real Estate, and the remaining 15 per cent was retained by the J&T group, which remains a financial partner in the project.[1][3]

Investment in Roma Tower in Warsaw

At the beginning of October 2026, AKIPIA concluded an agreement to enter as the main investor in the planned Roma Tower skyscraper in central Warsaw. According to the investors, the total value of the project is up to 20 billion crowns.[1][2] On the project, AKIPIA joined forces with the Polish developers Liebrecht & wooD and BBI Development and the Pro Bonum Foundation.[1][2]

Marek Šmrha said of the investment that the group’s aim is to take part in projects “that will last for generations” and that it is entering Roma Tower together with “leading players on the Polish real-estate market”.[1]

According to the daily E15, AKIPIA plans several further acquisitions in the near future worth at least single-digit billions of crowns.[1]
