Delfin Sarl is a Luxembourg family holding that manages the assets of the heirs of Leonardo Del Vecchio, the founder of Luxottica.[1] According to Bloomberg, it manages assets worth over 40 billion euros.[2] Delfin holds a controlling stake and almost a third of the shares of the EssilorLuxottica group, which makes eyewear including the Ray-Ban and Oakley brands.[3] It also has significant stakes in the insurer Assicurazioni Generali and in the banks UniCredit and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena.[3] The chief executive is Romolo Bardin.[3]

According to Bloomberg and the Italian daily Domani, in a letter dated 20 October 2026 the businessman Michal Strnad, owner of the arms group CSG, offered roughly 30 billion euros, about 730 billion crowns, for a stake in the holding.[2][3] Bloomberg reported that this is a 62.5 percent stake and that the offer values Delfin at a 30 percent discount to net asset value.[2] The offer is valid for 30 days and its acceptance would require all eight shareholders of Delfin to approve changes to ownership restrictions.[3] Shareholder Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio confirmed that he knows about the offer and said he would make sure the holding remains in Italian hands.[3] Neither Delfin nor Strnad initially commented on the information.[2]
