Marek Šmrha is a Czech investor working in the investment group AKIPIA, which he co-founded with Michal Strnad and Tomáš Brzobohatý. In the group he holds the position of chief executive and is also one of the three founders who are members of its board.[1]

Career before AKIPIA

Šmrha previously worked as investment director in the Penta group. The daily e15 describes him as an expert on acquisitions in the Prague business environment.[1] He moved to cooperation with Strnad at the time when Strnad was completing the purchase of the football club Viktoria Plzeň, that is, according to e15, in 2025.[1]

Founding of AKIPIA

The investment group AKIPIA was formed by the merger of three independent investors, Michal Strnad, Tomáš Brzobohatý and Marek Šmrha. According to e15, the group was originally meant to be Michal Strnad's family investment office, independent of his industrial holding CSG, but an investment group with three founders was created instead.[1] Brzobohatý, Šmrha and Strnad are members of the board of AKIPIA, and Šmrha is its chief executive.[1]

Investment projects

In August 2026 AKIPIA announced its entry into the development of the Prague district of Bubny-Zátory, where it acquired a 35 percent stake in cooperation with the company Penta Real Estate and the J&T group.[3]

At the beginning of October 2026 AKIPIA entered the project of the Roma Tower skyscraper in Warsaw as lead investor; the investors put its value at up to 20 billion koruna. The project envisages a building 170 metres tall with 357 apartments, and the Italian studio Pininfarina is to cooperate on the interiors.[1][2] Šmrha said of the project: "Our goal is to take part in projects of exceptional value that will last for generations. We are entering this project together with leading players on the Polish real estate market and top suppliers from across Europe."[1][3] According to e15, AKIPIA is to announce further acquisitions worth at least several billion koruna in the near future.[1]
