In Olomouc, following the 2026 municipal elections, STAN, which finished second, agreed on 13 October 2026 to negotiate a city hall coalition with ProOlomouc, KDU-ČSL, spOLečně and the Milujeme Olomouc coalition. The mayor is to be the STAN leader Marek Zelenka. The winning ANO movement remains outside the coalition.[1][2]

Election result and composition of the coalition

ANO won the election with 13 of 45 seats, three fewer than in the previous term. STAN won nine seats, ProOlomouc five, KDU-ČSL, ODS and spOLečně four each, and the Milujeme Olomouc coalition, made up of TOP 09, the Czech Pirate Party and the Greens (Zelení), and SPD three each. The planned five-party grouping has 25 seats on the council. ANO, ODS and SPD are thus heading into opposition. In the previous term ANO governed together with ProOlomouc, the Czech Pirate Party and spOLečně.[1]

Statement by ANO

The ANO leader and outgoing mayor Miroslava Ferancová said on 14 October 2026 that the movement respects the decision of the other parties and will be a constructive but uncompromising opposition. According to her, ANO is going into opposition "with heads held high". Ferancová said the movement had won for the fourth time in a row and the other parties had not accepted its victory. She also pointed out that three of the five groupings in the new coalition had been in the city leadership during the previous four years as well. In her words, the post of mayor was not a subject of the post-election talks.[1][2]

Position of ODS

The Olomouc ODS stated on social media that the parties of the planned coalition had agreed on Monday on the division of portfolios and that ODS was to receive transport. According to its statement, however, Zelenka told it on Tuesday morning that the agreement was not valid for STAN, and it was no longer invited to the evening negotiations. According to ODS, spOLečně took its place in the coalition.[1]

The coalition is now negotiating the details of cooperation.[2]
