
In Olomouc, voting in the municipal elections on 9 and 10 October 2026 took place in the grounds of the botanical garden of the Faculty of Science of Palacký University Olomouc. According to the university spokesperson, it was the first botanical garden in the history of the independent Czech Republic in which elections were held.[1]
The polling station belonged to district number 15. It was used by residents of part of Polská street and of the streets Poupětova, U botanické zahrady, U pivovaru and Zamenhofova and of Varšavské náměstí. Voters chose councillors from 427 candidates in an environment where more than 1,200 plant species grow.[1]
According to Hanácká Drbna, it was the second day of the elections, in which polling stations closed at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Nearly 190,000 candidates sought seats in municipal councils, and voters chose representatives of roughly 6,400 municipalities and city districts. 154 people ran for the Senate of the Czech Republic.[2]
