The Government of the Czech Republic is led by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO).[1][2] The cabinet is made up of ANO, SPD and the Motorists, and the foreign minister is Petr Macinka (Motorists). [5] On 3 October 2026 the prime minister rejected the Russian ambassador's statement that the government had toned down its anti-Russian rhetoric; the opposition called on the government not to underestimate Russian threats.[1][2][3] Former foreign minister Jan Lipavský (ODS) said that halting Czech military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine is in Russia's interest. [5] Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) agreed with the ambassador and said that the government had ended the style of "hysterical shouting" of the previous cabinet. [5] In an interview with the RIA Novosti agency, Ambassador Anna Ponomaryova recalled that in February 2026 Babiš expressed support for negotiations with Russia on ending the war in Ukraine, and that in January 2026 he announced that the money of Czech citizens would not go into the ammunition initiative for Ukraine. [1] Babiš said this at a pre-election meeting of the ANO movement in Lipník nad Bečvou. [1]
