Jakub Hruška is the lead candidate of the list Lidovci a Starostové – Brno blíž lidem in the 2026 municipal elections in Brno and a candidate for mayor.[1][2]

On 27 September 2026 Seznam Zprávy reported that the KDU-ČSL believes it will have the mayor in Brno.[2] On 30 September 2026 iDNES.cz wrote that Hruška is convinced the city communicates inadequately.[1] On Wednesday 30 September 2026 Hruška said that the coalition had neither ruled out nor confirmed post-election cooperation with ANO. [5] According to Brněnská Drbna, on 7 October 2026 Lidovci a Starostové presented the Declaration of Change.[3] According to a PR article in Brněnská Drbna, the declaration contains ten commitments, among them the renewal of cooperative housing and an open architectural competition for redesigning the space in front of Brno hlavní nádraží. [3] On 8 October 2026 Hruška took part in a Český rozhlas Brno debate with Klára Liptáková for the BRNO NAPLNO coalition and Matúš Bóna for B3!.[4]

Hruška is the mayor of the Brno city district of Kohoutovice, which he has led for almost six years, and he studied geodesy. [2]

In its programme the Lidovci a Starostové coalition promises up to a thousand new flats within four years, and Hruška said that the coalition wants to repair around 800 flats. [1]
