The leader of the winning KDU-ČSL and STAN grouping, Jakub Hruška, told journalists in Brno on 11 October 2026, after talks on a coalition, that there is agreement with possible partners on a number of programme matters. In his words, the desire to reach a deal is strong.[1]

Parties in the talks

According to the Czech News Agency, Hruška is negotiating a coalition with ODS, TOP 09 and independents, with the grouping Zelené Brno, with the Czech Pirate Party and Fakt Brno TU!, and with the movement Za Lužánky. He did not comment on any specific distribution of responsibilities. Besides the composition of the Brno council, representatives of the parties also discussed appointments linked to commissions, committees and city companies.[1][2]

Next steps

Hruška said they want to deal not only with posts but above all with the programme, and have given themselves time to revise it. The parties are to meet in the following week. According to him, nobody is leaving the agreed coalition for now, but the agreement has not been signed. In his words, an outstretched hand and a word of honour carry the same weight for them as a signed document.[1][2]

Election result

In the municipal elections in Brno, the ticket of the Christian Democrats and Starostové won with 18 seats in the 55-member assembly. The joint ticket of ODS, TOP 09 and independents won 13 seats, ANO 11, Zelené Brno six, the Pirates four and the movement Za Lužánky three. Turnout in Brno was 44.08 percent.[1][2]
