In Hradec Králové, following the 2026 municipal elections, the HDK and TOP 09 coalition, the coalition of the Czech Pirate Party and Starostové, and the Změna pro Hradec, Zelení and KDU-ČSL grouping agreed on joint leadership of the city. The three-party coalition's candidate for mayor is the outgoing mayor Pavlína Springerová (HDK). The parties were still considering whether ODS would become the fourth member of the coalition; they were to decide by Friday 16 October 2026.[1][2]

According to Springerová[1]

Election result

The HDK and TOP 09 coalition, supported by Hradečtí kantoři and non-party candidates, won 11 seats on the 37-member council. ANO, which came second, won ten seats, the Czech Pirate Party and Starostové six, ODS four, and Náš Hradec and Změna pro Hradec, Zelení and KDU-ČSL three each. Of the ten competing groupings, six made it onto the council. The three-party coalition has 20 seats, and with ODS it would have 24.[1][2]

Negotiations on the city leadership

The parties have been negotiating since the election results were announced on Saturday 10 October 2026. Springerová's nomination came out of the talks on 13 October. According to Springerová, they have not signed anything yet, but the agreement holds: "Among decent people, a word holds and a handshake holds." Springerová expects Lukáš Řádek (TOP 09) to remain deputy mayor. The other parties propose Kamil Kubica (Czech Pirate Party), Dominik Žilka (STAN) and Martina Erbsová (Zelení) as deputy mayors. The current city leadership consists of the mayor and five deputy mayors, and there are 11 councillors on the city board.[1][2]

Possible participation of ODS

Representatives of ODS talked with the three-party coalition for about 30 minutes. The ODS leader Martin Soukup said the party would like a post of deputy mayor and one board seat. Springerová said the door is not closed. If ODS became a member of the coalition, ANO and Náš Hradec would end up in opposition. In the previous term, besides HDK and TOP 09, the city was also led by the Czech Pirate Party, Změna pro Hradec, Zelení and ODS.[1][2]
