On Friday 25 September 2026, from 4:30, a hall with historic cars and motorcycles burned in the Svobodné Dvory district of Hradec Králové. Firefighters estimated the damage at about 20 million crowns. Nobody was injured in the fire.[1][2]

The response

The fire was fought by 11 units with about 30 pieces of equipment. All Hradec Králové units were deployed, so firefighters from Velké Poříčí in the Náchod district came to the city as reserve.[1] When the first units arrived, part of the building was completely engulfed by fire, which was spreading further and threatened to pass to surrounding buildings. Firefighters therefore also protected the neighbouring buildings and used a drone with a thermal camera for monitoring.[1][3] They brought the fire under control after two hours; according to firefighters' spokesman Radek Mencl, the fire was localised at 6:32.[1][3] They then dismantled damaged structures and extinguished hidden hot spots.[1] They finished the work before 16:30, so the operation lasted 12 hours, and handed the building over to its owner.[1][2]

The hall

The hall measured roughly 20 by 12 metres and the fire destroyed it completely.[1][3] The cause of the fire is being investigated by firefighters and the police.[1]
