Vít Rakušan is a Czech politician, a member of the Chamber of Deputies and chairman of the STAN movement. He acts as a critic of the government's economic policy, especially on the issue of the state budget.*

Criticism of the budget

In the discussion programme Za pět minut dvanáct in September 2026, he called the state budget deficit of 386 billion crowns planned by the government an "economic crime".[1][2][3] He was responding to a statement by the Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček (ANO), who said that a lower deficit could be achieved only by cutting spending on security, energy or transport, which the government did not agree to do.[1][2][3]

Rakušan pointed out that in the fiscal outlook it submitted, the government assumes that for the consolidation of the budget in the coming years the economy would have to grow by two percent, which in his view cannot be enough to stabilise the budget.[1][2][3]

Position on the vote of no confidence in the government

In connection with the budget, opposition deputies of the ANO, SPD and Motoristé movements wanted to convene an extraordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies and vote on a motion of no confidence in the government, ten days before the municipal and Senate elections.[1][2] Rakušan, as chairman of the governing STAN movement, said in the programme that he does not expect the opposition to outvote the majority in the Chamber in this vote.[1][2]
