Miroslav Ševčík is a member of the Chamber of Deputies.[1] He is an economist, sits in the Chamber for SPD and is deputy chair of the budget committee. [1]

On 8 October 2026 Echo24 wrote that Ševčík rejects the draft state budget even after a public message from Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. According to the article's headline, Ševčík said that he had not changed his view.[1] On 27 September 2026 Parlamentní listy published an interview in which the deputy comments on domestic and foreign political developments.[2]

The government approved the draft state budget for 2027 with a deficit of 386 billion crowns; Ševčík had earlier proposed cuts of up to 45 billion crowns, among other things in the defence chapter and in some investments. [1]

He justifies his position by saying that he is fulfilling the government's programme statement, which provides for reducing the state budget deficit. [1]

Prime Minister Babiš recalled in a podcast that Ševčík signed the coalition agreement, under which the coalition parties are to support government proposals in Parliament. [1]

Ševčík does not consider it realistic that Czechia would enter 2027 in a provisional budget regime. [1]
