Petr Fiala is a Czech politician for ODS who in 2026 is referred to as a former prime minister. In September and October 2026 he spoke publicly about the policy of the government of Andrej Babiš.

In the Chamber of Deputies debate on a no-confidence motion against the Babiš government, he criticised the cabinet for rising mortgage and fuel prices and for the planned state budget deficit [1][2]. He also rejected the government shifting the blame for unfulfilled promises onto its predecessor [1][2]. Boris Šťastný, the minister for sport, objected to his speech and recalled the higher inflation under Fiala's government [2].

After a rating agency announced that it had improved the outlook of the Czech Republic's rating from stable to positive, he claimed credit for the success in a brief reaction on the social network X; finance minister Alena Schillerová replied to him that rating outlooks had worsened under his government [3]. In a video on a social network, Fiala pointed out that the Motoristé, who last year criticised the 2026 budget with a deficit of 286 billion crowns, have now, as a governing party, supported a budget with a deficit one hundred billion higher [4].
