The ANO movement, winner of the 2026 municipal elections in Plzeň, joined forces on 11 October 2026 with its existing coalition partner, the PRO Plzeň grouping, which ran with the support of KDU-ČSL members. Mayor and ANO leader Roman Zarzycký said on Facebook that from that moment they would negotiate the coalition as a single bloc. Together they have 24 of 47 seats, a narrow majority, and want to build a stable coalition with the greatest possible overlap in programme.[1][2]

Election result

ANO won 18 seats, three more than before. The STAN movement finished second with ten seats and ODS third with eight. PRO Plzeň with KDU-ČSL has six seats, and the Chceme Plzeň coalition, made up of TOP 09, the Greens and independents, has five. The Czech Pirate Party, which was in the existing coalition, did not make it onto the council.[1][2]

Positions of other groupings

The existing coalition consisted of ANO, PRO Plzeň, STAN and the Pirates. Michal Vozobule (TOP 09), leader of Chceme Plzeň, said in advance that he did not want to negotiate with ANO and called on the other groupings to unite against ANO. Tomáš Morávek, leader of PRO Plzeň, said that his movement had been satisfied with how the existing coalition worked and that it would negotiate with both STAN and ODS. Lukáš Hegner, leader of ODS, said that ODS was ready to negotiate and, after the ANO and PRO Plzeň bloc was formed, called other alternatives impassable. Aleš Tolar, leader of STAN, did not rule out cooperation with ANO.[1][2]
