A new car park of Správa železnic (SŽ) with 226 parking spaces has begun operating at the railway station in Kladno. The first twenty minutes of parking are free.[1]

Facilities

The site offers eight spaces reserved for people with disabilities and nine spaces for motorcycles. A further 27 spaces are prepared for future electric-vehicle charging.[1]

Planned benefit for passengers

SŽ spokesperson Friebová said discounted parking should start in December 2026 or January 2027, after the software of the parking system has been adjusted and cooperation has been fine-tuned with Integrovaná doprava Středočeského kraje (IDSK), which organises public transport in the Central Bohemian Region.[1] According to Friebová, holders of a valid PID Lítačka coupon will be able to park free of charge for up to 24 hours.[1]

Related construction work

SŽ expects the new station building in Kladno to open in February 2027. Friebová described the construction as taking its final shape, with the glass façade and the roof being completed and interior installations continuing.[1]

Since 2022, more than five kilometres of line between the stations Kladno and Kladno-Ostrovec have been under modernisation. The section now has two tracks and is electrified, new platforms and underpasses have been built, and the busiest level crossings have been replaced by grade-separated crossings. The new station building has a timber load-bearing structure. SŽ plans to complete the whole section in 2028, with costs expected to reach roughly five billion crowns.[1]

In May 2026, construction also began of a double-track electrified line between Prague's Ruzyně and Kladno, which includes the renewal of several railway stations, among them the one in Hostivice. Costs of this project are expected to exceed eight billion crowns, and completion is planned for 2029.[1]
