Jedno Ústí is a grouping which, before the 2026 municipal elections, brought together seven parties and movements from Ústí (PRO!Ústí, the Czech Pirate Party, Zelení, STAN, TOP 09, UFO and Naše Česko) and dozens of non-party members. Its leader is the independent Tomáš Vohryzka, the probable future mayor of Ústí nad Labem. It holds a majority of 22 seats on the 37-member council.[1][2]
Election result
ANO, which is leaving for the opposition after eight years, finished second with six seats. Vaše Ústí, supported by the movement Za lepší Střekov, won four seats, Spolu pro Ústí three, and SPD and Motoristé, supported by Přísaha and Trikolora, two each.[2]
Plan to abolish the city districts
After the elections the coalition is considering abolishing the city districts, of which Ústí nad Labem has four: Neštěmice, Střekov, Severní Terasa and the city. Vohryzka said that nothing has been decided yet, that abolition is one of the alternatives and that the coalition is preparing financial analyses. According to him it is one of the options for savings in the city budget.[1][2][3]
The opposition movements Vaše Ústí and Za lepší Střekov are against the plan. The mayor of Neštěmice, Yveta Tomková of Vaše Ústí, said that representatives of the winning grouping informed her three days after the elections of their intention to abolish the districts and named the date of 1 January 2027. She criticised that they had presented neither an economic analysis nor a plan, and said she would not leave the district. According to her, residents of Neštěmice have begun to form a preparatory committee for a referendum on keeping the district. The movement Za lepší Střekov is preparing for a defensive referendum, for which it would have 30 days to file a petition if the council approved the abolition, and it would need approximately 2,200 signatures of Střekov residents. The mayor of the Severní Terasa district, Jaroslav Šimanovský (ANO), said that Jedno Ústí had not mentioned such a step before the elections.[1][2][3][4]
Radim Bzura (ODS), the leader of the Spolu pro Ústí coalition, said that his coalition had planned in its programme to deal with the districts, either by strengthening or abolishing them. He does not yet have a definite position because he does not know the details.[2][3]
