On 3 October 2026 water flooded the fourth basement level of the Motol University Hospital in Prague, where the storage room for the clothing of patients after radiological treatment is located. Vojtěch Rotschedl, spokesperson of the Prague firefighters, reported this.[1][2]

The firefighters' first measurement showed a normal level of radiation. A chemical laboratory from Kamenice was also on its way to the site. The clothing intended for disposal is stored in the storage room in plastic bags. According to Rotschedl, the water in the storage room stood roughly two centimetres high, and he said the flooding was caused by the opening of hydrants.[1][3] The Motol University Hospital is the largest healthcare facility in Czechia, with roughly 2,200 beds and more than 6,000 employees. [1] The hospital consists of two connected monoblocks and several separate pavilions, and more than a million patients are treated there as outpatients every year. [1]
