The teaching hospital in Motol, Prague, is the largest medical facility in the Czech Republic. It consists of two connected monoblocks and several separate pavilions. The hospital has roughly 2,200 beds and over 6,000 employees, and treats more than a million outpatients a year.[1][2]

Among other things, the basements of the complex hold a store of clothing from patients after radiological treatment, which is intended for disposal and is kept in plastic bags.[1] On 3 October 2026 water flooded the fourth basement level containing the store; the first measurement by firefighters showed a normal level of radiation, and according to a spokesperson for the Prague firefighters the cause was the opening of hydrants. [1] According to the spokesperson, the water in the store stood about two centimetres deep, and a chemical laboratory from Kamenice was on its way to the site. [1]
