In Prague 5, five parties signed a memorandum of cooperation after the 2026 municipal elections: ODS, STAN, SEN, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL. The election winner, Praha 5 sobě, is not part of the agreement. The parties are now preparing a coalition agreement, priorities for the four-year term and the distribution of posts on the council. The inaugural meeting of the assembly may take place on 3 November, provided nobody files a court petition over the election result.[1][2]

Election result

In the 41-member assembly, Praha 5 sobě holds ten seats, ODS eight, STAN seven, SEN six, ANO five, the Czech Pirate Party three and the TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL coalition two. The partners to the memorandum therefore hold 23 seats together.[1][2]

Positions of the parties

The Praha 5 sobě leader Radka Šimková said she had wanted to form a broad coalition without ODS and ANO and had offered STAN the post of mayor and two seats on the council. According to her, STAN rejected the offer, and TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL were not interested in cooperation. The ODS leader Lukáš Herold said he had offered Praha 5 sobě a broad coalition with ODS, STAN and the Pirates or SEN, which Praha 5 sobě did not confirm. Šimková said that the STAN leader Dušek had offered her a coalition of Praha 5 sobě, ODS and STAN, that she had wanted to discuss the matter with the Pirates and SEN, and that the agreement was concluded in the meantime. Herold said he is not directly seeking the post of mayor and that the formation of a stable coalition matters more.[1][2]

Previous term

Praha 5 sobě also won the 2022 elections and formed a coalition with the Pirates and SEN. It broke up in 2024 and was replaced by a coalition of ODS, ANO, TOP 09 and STAN.[1]
