A fire broke out at a family house in the Liberec district of Dolní Hanychov in the night of 2 October 2026. The fire was reported to firefighters shortly after three o'clock in the morning, and eight fire brigade units were dispatched to the scene. Because of the extent of the fire, a second-degree fire alarm was declared.[1][2]*

Course of the intervention

When the first fire brigade unit arrived, the entire living part of the house was engulfed in flames, from where the fire subsequently spread to the attic and roof part of the building. The spokeswoman of the Liberec firefighters, Jaroslava Benešová, stated that firefighters deployed several water jets and used extension ladders during the firefighting work.[1][2] Thanks to the timely intervention of the units, the adjoining farm part of the building was saved from the fire. The incident commander reported the fire as localised at 4:38, and about an hour later the fire was completely extinguished; firefighters put it out after half past five in the morning.[1][2]

Injured resident and rescued dog

Before the firefighters arrived, one of the residents self-evacuated from the burning house, injured and having inhaled combustion fumes.[1][2] Firefighters managed to carry out of the heavily smoke-filled house a dog that they found inside the building.[1][2]

Investigation

According to the firefighters' spokeswoman, the cause of the fire and the amount of damage caused were being investigated at the time of the intervention.[1]
