At its first meeting on 11 October 2026, the STAN group in the Prague city council elected Michal Biskup as chair and Hana Novotná as deputy chair. Representatives of the movement announced this.[1][2]
Coalition talks
The Prague STAN leader Petr Hlaváček said he had briefly met Tomáš Portlík (ODS), the lead candidate of Spolu. Official talks between the STAN and Spolu negotiating teams are due to begin on Monday 12 October, with meetings with Praha sobě and the Czech Pirate Party to follow on Tuesday or Wednesday. The STAN negotiating team is to consist of Hlaváček, Antonín Klecanda and either Biskup or Novotná. Hlaváček said another round of talks could not be ruled out, and he excluded coalition cooperation with ANO. He would like to conclude an agreement in November.[1][2]
Hlaváček said the movement is interested in the post of mayor and in the areas of urban development, education, the environment and, ideally, finance. He could imagine transport going to Spolu or to a possible third partner. In his view, a coalition of only STAN and Spolu would be rather fragile, while a coalition of four groups would be broad but of uncertain functionality. Portlík said that, as the election winner, STAN is entitled to the post of mayor.[1][2]
Election result
In the municipal elections in Prague, STAN won 17 seats in the 65-member assembly, as did Spolu (ODS, TOP 09). Praha sobě has 13 members and ANO 11. SPD and Motoristé sobě did not enter the assembly. Until now Prague has been governed by a coalition of Spolu (ODS, TOP 09, KDU-ČSL), the Pirates and STAN.[1]
