Škoda Auto is a carmaker based in Mladá Boleslav. It produces passenger cars, including electric cars and plug-in hybrids, and also operates a battery systems hall in Mladá Boleslav [1][2].

Production in 2026

According to the Sdružení automobilového průmyslu, from January to the end of August 2026 the company produced 648,393 passenger cars at its plants in the Czech Republic, 6.2 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. The number of electrified vehicles rose by 24.7 percent to 169,554, of which 147,288 were fully electric and 22,266 were plug-in hybrids [1][2].

Production curtailment in October 2026

In a statement on 1 October 2026, Škoda Auto said that it was dealing with a restriction at one of its component suppliers and was partly reducing the number of shifts in the affected plants according to the availability of parts for individual models. According to the company, the measure serves to maintain continuity of production and deliveries and to minimise the impact on output. Employees whose shift has been cancelled will, by agreement with the Kovo trade union organisation, be on downtime due to an obstacle on the employer's side [1][2].

The carmaker did not say which supplier and which component were involved, which plants and models are affected, how many shifts and employees are concerned, or when it expects a return to normal operation. It neither confirmed nor denied the media reports [1][2].

Boleslavský deník wrote that the curtailment affects the production of electric cars in hall M13 in Mladá Boleslav, where employees are not going to night shifts that week, and that the reason is a shortage of cable components made in Ukraine. The website Seznam Zprávy reported that the parts are wiring harnesses from the company Kromberg & Schubert in Zhytomyr and that the curtailment affects the Enyaq and Elroq models [1][2].
