Škoda Auto has cut production and partly reduced the number of shifts because of problems at a supplier. Employees whose shift was cancelled because of problems in the supply chain are, by agreement with the Kovo trade union, to be treated as prevented from working on the employer's side. [1] The server Seznam Zprávy reported that the problem concerns wiring harnesses from the Kromberg & Schubert plant in Zhytomyr, Ukraine, and that the cuts affect the Enyaq and Elroq models; Škoda Auto neither confirmed nor denied this. [1] The paper reported that the cause is a shortage of cable components made in Ukraine, whose deliveries have been held up since Russian attacks on the production plants there. [1] According to Boleslavský deník, the cuts concern electric car production in hall M13 in Mladá Boleslav, where night shifts were not worked at the turn of September and October 2026. [1] The carmaker announced this on 1 October 2026[1][2][3]. According to the Sdružení automobilového průmyslu (automotive industry association), Škoda Auto produced 648,393 passenger cars at its domestic plants from January to the end of August 2026, 6.2 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, of which 169,554 were electrified vehicles, that is 147,288 fully electric and 22,266 plug-in hybrids. Information from the trade unions of 8 October 2026
The fortnightly of the Škoda Auto trade unions, Škodovácký odborář, reported on 8 October 2026 that the parts supply problems have also affected the Kodiaq model built in Kvasiny in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou area [4][5].
According to the unions, the greatest difficulties are caused by deliveries of wiring for cars built in Mladá Boleslav, especially the Enyaq and Elroq electric cars. According to the unions, production of the Peaq model is being kept up. The purchasing, logistics and production departments, together with the trade union organisations, are working on the situation around the clock [4][5].
Some shifts in hall M13 in Mladá Boleslav are being cancelled because of a shortage of parts. According to the unions, employees whose shift was dropped are treated as prevented from working on the employer's side. The unions did not specify the models affected. According to the unions, the paint shops in Mladá Boleslav worked to a reduced plan in the previous week and continue to operate in a reduced mode [4][5].
