Superdebata is the final pre-election debate of Czech Television (ČT). According to ČT spokesman Michal Pleskot, it serves to acquaint viewers with the ideas and visions of the strongest political groupings on the subject of the elections, not to present individual candidates and their personal views.[1]
Autumn 2026
ČT plans to broadcast the final Superdebata on Thursday, 8 October 2026, and has not yet announced the participants. On 6 October the broadcaster said that the chairs of the opposition parties ODS, the Czech Pirate Party, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09, and of the coalition movement Motoristé sobě, will not appear in it, because they are standing in the municipal and Senate elections respectively, and ČT's rules for pre-election broadcasting do not allow candidates to appear unless their competitors are represented as well. It was responding to a letter from the chairs asking it to allow their participation. They were answered by Petr Mrzena, director of the news division, according to whom the long-applied rules are set correctly.[1][2]
Pleskot said that the rules were published well in advance and that parties can also be represented by other members of their leadership. Representatives of parties and movements who are not themselves standing in the elections are welcome in the debate, he said.[1][2] The chairman of Motoristé sobě, Petr Macinka, did not join the opposition's appeal.[1]
