On 6 October 2026, the Karlovy Vary Region began signing lease agreements with the first eight tenants of the soon-to-be-completed Karlovy Vary Innovation Center (KIC), which is being built in a complex near the regional office in Karlovy Vary [1][2].

Signing of the Agreements

Deputy Governor Martin Hurajčík (ANO) said that the region already has interested parties on record and is signing office lease agreements with eight of them [1]. According to him, the regional authority commissioned a document recommending rent levels that correspond to standard market prices [1][2].

Construction Progress

As of 6 October 2026, the main construction work had been completed, with work now focused mainly on the interiors and the surroundings of the buildings; installation of technical utilities and plastering were continuing [1][2]. Around the site, work was being finished on paved areas, the laying of interlocking paving on the car park, and public lighting wiring [1][2]. According to Hurajčík, the innovation center should be finished and equipped with the necessary technology within a few months [1][2].

Project and Costs

The KIC project involves the construction of a multi-purpose complex comprising a science and technology park and an information and education center, with the science and technology park set to include office space, laboratories and a conference hall [1][2]. The building is intended to offer space for start-up companies, a place for business cooperation, and premises for regional or private institutions [1].

Construction costs total 635 million korunas, of which a grant from the Just Transition program will cover 85 percent, with the region covering the remainder from its own budget [1][2]. According to Hurajčík, deadlines for the use of the new facilities are one of the conditions of the grant [1]. The center is being built by the company Geosan Group, and if the schedule is met, the KIC is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 [1][2].
