Giorgia Meloni is the Prime Minister of Italy.[1][2] Echo24 describes her as a right-wing prime minister.[2]

Relations with the Czech Republic

She visited Prague in spring 2023, when she held talks with the then Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) on cooperation in defence, energy security, culture and space technologies. She met Andrej Babiš (ANO) in Rome in February of this year.[2]

Meloni and Babiš met in Prague on 29 September 2026 at the Úřad vlády České republiky and then at a working dinner at Kramář's Villa. According to the Úřad vlády České republiky, they were to discuss the competitiveness of the European Union, the future multiannual financial framework and European security.[1][2] Both prime ministers mentioned a newly agreed action plan for cooperation until 2030 and a joint exhibition on Pompeii and Herculaneum, which is to take place in the Czech Republic and Italy in 2028.[1] Meloni said that the talks also covered energy, the defence industry, infrastructure and migration.[1] According to Italian government sources, an Italian-Czech cultural year is also planned for 2027 and 2028.[2]

The details of the talks are described in the article Visit of Giorgia Meloni to Prague (29 September 2026).
