The ANO movement, Karlovaráci and ODS signed a memorandum of cooperation in Karlovy Vary on 12 October 2026 and ended talks with the other parties. Together they will hold 18 seats in the 35-member council. Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová (ANO) is to remain mayor.[1][2]
Election result
ANO won the 2026 municipal elections in Karlovy Vary with 26.43 per cent of the vote and ten seats, although it lost ground compared with the previous elections. The Vary+ coalition (KOA, the Czech Pirate Party, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL) received 22.74 per cent and nine seats, Karlovaráci and Starostové a nezávislí six each, and SPD and ODS two each.[1] Four years earlier, the winning ANO had 14 seats and a coalition with Karlovaráci and Spolu; after charges were brought against councillor Petr Bursík (ODS), it was reduced to cooperation between ANO and Karlovaráci with 19 seats.[1]
City leadership
Pfeffer Ferklová described the majority as narrow and said that the previous coalition had discussed council agenda items with the opposition as well. The city board will remain at nine members. Deputy mayors Martin Dušek and Lubomír Kovář (both ANO) and Miroslav Vaněk (Karlovaráci) are to continue in their posts; the fourth deputy mayor is likely to be Václav Skuhravý (Karlovaráci).[1][2]
The parties want to sign the coalition agreement in the following week and then publish a programme statement.[1][2]
