On 13 October 2026 the movements STAN, ProOlomouc, KDU-ČSL, spOLečně and Milujeme Olomouc agreed to negotiate a city hall coalition with 25 of 45 seats; the mayor is to be STAN leader Marek Zelenka.
Representatives of the movements STAN, ProOlomouc, KDU-ČSL, spOLečně and the Milujeme Olomouc coalition (TOP 09, the Czech Pirate Party, the Greens) agreed on the evening of Tuesday 13 October 2026 to negotiate a city hall coalition in Olomouc. According to the agreement, the post of mayor is to go to STAN leader Marek Zelenka, who told the Czech News Agency. The five groups would hold 25 seats in the 45-member city council.[1][2][3]
Election result
The municipal election in Olomouc was won by the ANO movement with 25.9 percent of the vote and 13 seats, three fewer than four years earlier. STAN finished second with 19.7 percent and nine seats. ProOlomouc won five seats, KDU-ČSL and ODS four each, and the Milujeme Olomouc coalition and SPD three each.[1][3] In the previous term ANO had 16 seats and STAN two.[1]
Course of the talks
After the election, ANO and STAN held parallel coalition talks and ruled out cooperation with each other.[3] The outgoing mayor and ANO leader Miroslava Ferancová told the Czech News Agency that ANO had approached all groups except SPD, Milujeme Olomouc and STAN.[1] According to Zelenka, STAN reached agreement without ANO and SPD; it held talks with ODS, but no agreement was reached. Zelenka told Olomoucký deník that with ODS the coalition would have had 29 seats, but in his view the chosen variant is more constructive and simpler.[1][3]
According to reports, ANO, which governed with ProOlomouc, the Pirates and spOLečně over the past four years, will thus probably remain in opposition together with ODS and SPD. Ferancová said in the evening on the outcome of the talks that ANO has no official position.[1][3]
