Šutka is a sports complex in Prague operated by the company Trade Centre Praha. According to the councillor for property Adam Zábranský (Czech Pirate Party), only a smaller part of it is used today.[1][2]
Conversion study
In October 2026 the city presented an architectural study for converting the complex into a swimming sports centre. It was drawn up on the basis of requests from swimming federations and associations, which, according to Zábranský, lack suitable facilities for international competitions in Prague. The company Trade Centre Praha took part in its preparation.[1][2]
The proposal envisages a new building with a fifty-metre pool with ten lanes and a stand for a thousand spectators. It is also to offer a diving pool, a pool deep enough for diving, an outdoor pool for the public, a wellness area with saunas, green roofs, parking and accommodation with 80 beds, or up to 120 places with extra beds.[1][2]
The preliminary cost estimate is 2.5 to 3 billion koruna. According to Zábranský, Prague wants to negotiate co-financing with the National Sport Agency, because in his words the importance of the project goes beyond the capital. Antonín Klecanda (STAN), the councillor for education and sport, said that the swimming associations have shown interest in having their headquarters in the complex and in holding international competitions there.[1][2]
The project is so far at the study stage. If the city decides to prepare it, then, according to Zábranský, the drawing up of a project will follow, which may take two to three years, and only after that a building permit and construction. According to him, the method of preparation, for example the design and build method, has not yet been decided.[1][2]
