In the ČT24 programme Nedělní debata on 18 October 2026, the guests discussed the results of the Senate and municipal elections. Senator Róbert Šlachta (Přísaha) announced that he is negotiating a possible move from the ANO Senate club. He said he is also holding talks with other clubs and wants to decide soon. He did not specify whom he is negotiating with.
As his reason he gave the campaign of the governing movement against him in South Moravia, especially events around the candidate Jiří Kyněra in the Znojmo area before the second round. He also said that he had voted differently from the ANO club in about eighty per cent of cases. The club's chair Jana Mračková Vildumetzová called his course of action legitimate and described ANO's result in the Senate election as a failure.
The chair of KDU-ČSL and newly elected senator Jan Grolich said that the elections showed the government lacks support among its own voters. He rejected the criticism that the opposition had built its campaign merely on "anti-Babišism". Former senator Miroslava Němcová (ODS) said that voters regret the break-up of the SPOLU coalition and that candidates succeeded where they supported one another.
The guests of the debate rejected the proposal by Chamber of Deputies member Radek Vondráček (ANO) to introduce single-round Senate elections. Both Grolich and Němcová described the two-round system as important. Šlachta also spoke in favour of the two-round system and said that such a debate should come from the Senate, not from the Chamber of Deputies. Mračková Vildumetzová called the discussion legitimate but acknowledged that a change requires the consent of both chambers.
