Jiří Kyněra is a swimming coach and a candidate of the ANO movement in the 2026 Senate elections in district No. 54 Znojmo [1][2].
In the first round of the elections in October 2026, six candidates ran for the seat in the district [1]. Kyněra advanced to the second round together with the incumbent senator Tomáš Třetina (TOP 09), who is defending his seat [1][2]. The other candidates were Bohumila Beranová, deputy mayor of Znojmo (Hlas regionů), Jindřich Růžička (independent), Pavel Černý (Přísaha) and Petra Rédová Fajmonová (Stačilo!). [1] Třetina was nominated by TOP 09, KDU-ČSL, ODS, STAN and the Czech Pirate Party. [1] According to iROZHLAS, Třetina received 35.5 percent of the vote in the first round [3]. According to calculations by the Czech News Agency, with more than 96 percent of the vote counted, Kyněra had 22.42 percent and turnout exceeded 45 percent. [5]
According to Novinky.cz, Kyněra wants, among other things, to improve access to health care and security in the Znojmo area, and counts on the support of sports clubs, coaches and associations [1]. During the counting of the first round he said that he did not want to comment on the interim result and would speak once the count was complete [2].
Czech Television and iROZHLAS prepared a radio and television debate between the two candidates who advanced, to be held before the second round [3][4].
