CESNET
CESNET has launched CESTime, delivering time accurate to a few nanoseconds
The CESNET association launched the CESTime service on 30 September 2026. It distributes precise time over optical networks using White Rabbit technology developed at CERN. Time is carried from atomic clocks along optical fibres and does not depend on satellite systems such as GPS or Galileo. The network includes more than 20 nodes, 26 optical links and 3,785 kilometres of fibre. Four optical rings are meant to provide alternative routes if a route is cut or equipment fails.

Editor's note. The release comes from the network operator that introduces the service, so it describes the strengths from its own point of view. The figures on the size of the network can be checked, but nothing is said about the number of customers or the price of the service.
