On Saturday 31 October 2026, shortly before 5 a.m., a fatal traffic accident occurred near the village of Sytno in the Tachov area. According to the police, the driver of a passenger car left the road after a right-hand bend and collided head-on with a tree. His injuries were incompatible with life, and he died at the scene.[1][2][3]
A woman passenger was travelling with him. According to the server Plzeňská Drbna, she suffered a minor injury to an upper limb, and rescuers took her to the emergency department of a teaching hospital in Plzeň.[2] Traffic on road 605 was restricted at the site of the crash and later became passable again.[1][2]
Regional police spokeswoman Barbora Kunešová said that the driver had apparently not adapted his speed.[1][3] The police ordered a forensic autopsy of the deceased driver to establish the cause of death more precisely. Criminal police officers from Tachov are investigating the circumstances of the accident.[1][2][3]
