The overturning of a tractor with a trailer took place on the afternoon of Saturday 26 September 2026 in the street K Nadjezdu in Přerov-Dluhonice, on the day of the event Traktoriáda Dluhonice 2026. According to the organisers, the accident took place outside the grounds where the tractor event was held and outside its official programme.[1][2]
Course of the accident
The police received a report of the accident at about 15:30.[1] According to the newspaper Deník.cz, the driver, while passing through a sharp right-hand bend from a steeper hill, probably did not adjust his speed, the trailer tilted to the left side and overturned on the road.[2] According to Libor Hejtman, spokesman of the regional police, there were 13 people on the trailer, of whom 11 ended up injured in hospitals.[2] The driver was not injured, at the scene he cited a technical defect on the trailer, and after the accident a breath test measured over one and a half per mille of alcohol.[2]
Injuries and rescue operation
The emergency medical service sent five crews to the scene.[1] Lucie Mikisková, spokeswoman for the Olomouc Region Emergency Medical Service, said that the injuries were light, in the form of abrasions and bruises, and that children were among the injured.[3][2] Rescuers took eight injured to the hospital in Přerov and three to University Hospital Olomouc, to avoid overloading the emergency department.[1][3] According to Mikisková, nothing at the scene suggested serious injuries.[3]
Statements by police and organisers
Police spokesman Jaroslav Herzán said that the exact causes and circumstances of the accident are the subject of further investigation.[1][3]
On behalf of the organisers of the tractor event, Jakub Metelka commented on the accident, saying that it was an individual ride by a particular person that was not part of the organised event, its programme or accompanying activities.[1] Metelka added: “We are sorry that this event occurred and above all we hope that its consequences will not be serious for those involved.”[1] The organisers stated on a social network that the event itself took place in a sports ground and that they neither provided nor organised the ride during which the accident occurred.[2]
