Prague Public Transit Company announced a tender for the construction of the Libuš station on Line D of the metro on 2 October 2026. The estimated value of the contract is about CZK 3.76 billion excluding VAT, and the station is to be completed by 2032[1][2]. Construction of Line D began in 2022 with the section between Pankrác and Ryšánka, and in 2026 the company, more than two years behind schedule, started the section from Ryšánka to Nové Dvory, including tunnels as far as Písnice. [1] The Libuš station is to be built by the cut-and-cover method, with an island platform and two concourses; the southern concourse will be located at the Libuš tram stops and linked by an underpass beneath Novodvorská Street. [2] The northern concourse, with a lift, is to stand on the eastern side of Novodvorská Street between Machuldova and Cuřínova streets, and the above-ground parts of both concourses are to form part of the ground floor of future residential and commercial development. [2] According to the transit company's spokesman Daniel Šabík, construction of the station is to take 54 months from the handover of the construction site, and the company recently obtained a building permit for it. [1] According to the transit company, price will be the only criterion for evaluating bids in the tender. [2] Line D is to connect Náměstí Míru with Písnice. [1] According to the current schedule, the entire route of Line D is to enter service in 2036, and the city plans in the longer term to extend it as far as Náměstí Republiky. [2] Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček (STAN) said that, under the area study, private development, a park with a square, or affordable municipal housing is to be built around the station. [2] Deputy Mayor for Transport Jaromír Beránek (Pirates) said that he wants to complete the station ahead of schedule so that it can enter service together with the first section of Line D in 2032. [2]

Driverless trains are to run on the line; the transit company is procuring them in a separate tender, the result of which is to be known in 2028, according to an earlier statement by the company's director Ladislav Urbánek. [2]
