The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) reported that 30 September 2026 was the warmest day of this year's Indian summer. At two stations the temperature exceeded 26 degrees Celsius, and at eight others it reached at least 25 degrees.[1][2]*

Recorded Values

The highest temperature was recorded at Husinec-Řež near Prague, at 26.2 degrees. Doksany in the Litoměřice area was a tenth of a degree lower. A summer day was also reported by stations in the Central Bohemian, South Moravian and South Bohemian Regions, while Komořany in Prague recorded 25.1 degrees.[1][2]

Records

At Husinec-Řež the temperature surpassed the previous maximum for 30 September, set in 2011, when it reached 26 degrees. Meteorologists do not recognize it as a record, however, since only the highest value measured over at least 30 years counts toward the record books. Record values for this date were set at three stations in the Šumava region: at Srní (24.8 degrees, two tenths above the previous 2016 record), at Černá v Pošumaví (23.9 degrees) and at Horská Kvilda (21.6 degrees).[1][2]

Outlook

The ČHMÚ said temperatures around 25 degrees could exceptionally occur again on Thursday. In the evening, the weather will begin to be affected by a cold front, which may bring precipitation to western and northwestern Bohemia on Friday. The weekend is expected to be mostly sunny with temperatures around 20 to 22 degrees, and according to the institute the warm spell will likely last until the middle of the following week.[1][2]
