The city of Mladá Boleslav signed a contract in October 2026 with the company Stavotrans for the reconstruction of the area in front of the main railway station. In the tender the price fell from the expected CZK 34.36 million excluding VAT to CZK 24.86 million.[1]
Scope of the works
According to the public procurement bulletin, the works are to take six months and begin after the new station building is completed in November 2026. The European Union is to co-finance the project. The whole area of Nádražní Street is to be redone: pavements, a bus bay and a boarding area for the bus stop, a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists, seven kiss-and-ride parking spaces and two parking bays for waiting buses.[1]
Traffic during construction
A temporary car park at the station with a capacity of roughly 15 to 20 spaces is to remain in operation. Construction will take place under full closure so that residents keep access to their homes. The city bus stop is to move to U Cukrovaru Street by 23 December.[1]
Rail closure on the line to Turnov
According to the city, the situation will also be complicated by a closure on the line between Mladá Boleslav and Turnov. Since 3 October 2026, Arriva's R21 express trains between Mladá Boleslav main station and Turnov have been replaced by buses; under the closure timetable the closure is to last until 27 November 2026. Replacement buses depart from Nádražní Street about 200 metres from the station building; the restriction also affects regional S35 trains.[1]
