The STEM agency published for CNN Prima News the results of a survey that mapped the public's expectations of the government. Data were collected from 2 to 7 September 2026 and 1,539 people took part [1].

Health care in first place

The availability of health care was named an absolute priority by 47 percent of respondents, the quality of health care by 45 percent [1]. STEM said that “both areas lead the ranking, as in January” [1]. They are followed by the national debt with 38 percent, international security and the availability of housing with 37 percent each, and internal security with 36 percent [1]. The functioning of public service media is a priority for 11 percent of people, the conditions for the work of non-profit organisations for 6 percent [1].

Differences between voters

The availability of health care is considered an absolute priority by 64 percent of SPD voters and 55 percent of ANO voters; among voters of the Motorists it is just under half, and among voters of STAN, the Czech Pirate Party and the former Spolu coalition about a third [1]. According to the survey, voters of ANO, SPD and the Motorists stress health care, housing, energy and the economy, whereas voters of Spolu, STAN and the Pirates prefer the national debt, international security, democracy and defence [1].

Expectations of improvement are weakening

An improvement in the availability of health care over the next four years is expected by 21 percent of people, a similar share fears a worsening, and three fifths do not expect a significant change [1]. In January 2026, 28 percent of respondents expected an improvement [1]. In 20 of the 22 areas monitored, the expectation of stability is, according to the survey, more common than the expectation of improvement or worsening [1]. STEM said that “no more than five percent of people expect a significant improvement in any area” and that fears of worsening exceed expectations of stability for the national debt and inflation [1]. Whereas in January hope for improvement outweighed fear of worsening in 13 of 17 monitored areas, in September this held for only five of them, namely the availability of health care, internal security, the production and supply of energy, the level of defence and the modernisation of the state [1]. Expectations of improvement weakened most for pensions and social security, where the share of optimists fell from 32 to 21 percent [1]. According to STEM, 45 percent of government voters expect an improvement in economic performance, whereas among opposition voters the share expecting an improvement does not exceed 12 percent in any area [1].
