After the 2026 municipal elections, three groups agreed in Hradec Králové to hold joint talks: the coalition of the Hradecký demokratický klub and TOP 09, the coalition of the Czech Pirate Party and Starostové, and the association Změna pro Hradec, Zelení a KDU-ČSL. Together they hold 20 of the 37 assembly seats.[1][2] The Hradecký demokratický klub and TOP 09 won 11 seats in the elections, the Czech Pirate Party and Starostové six, and Změna pro Hradec, Zelení a KDU-ČSL three. [1]

The mayor Pavlína Springerová said that her coalition and its partners are ready to negotiate with other groups as well, and that ODS, which will have four seats in the assembly, had been discussed. [1]

According to Novinky.cz, the ANO movement, which won ten seats, will probably remain in opposition. [1]

According to the deputy mayor Lukáš Řádek (TOP 09), representatives of the groups agreed to create a majority negotiating bloc, which is to be the basis for talks on the leadership of the city. [1]

According to Springerová, talks on programme priorities began on 11 October 2026, and no fundamental disagreements arose in them. [2]
