The Ore Mountains are a mountain range that runs along the state border between Czechia and Germany across the territory of the Karlovy Vary Region and the Ústí nad Labem Region.[1][2] Their highest point is Klínovec (1,244 m above sea level) in the Karlovy Vary District.[1] The highest point of the Ústí nad Labem Region lies on the boundary with the Karlovy Vary Region, below the summit of Klínovec, and has an elevation of 1,231.27 m above sea level.[2]

According to the Czech Statistical Office, this is a very old mountain range composed mainly of plutonic rocks and Paleozoic crystalline schists.[2] A brown-coal basin extends beneath its slopes from Ústí nad Labem to Kadaň.[2] The Ore Mountains area is a sparsely populated mountain belt with limited economic activity.[2] In the Ústí nad Labem Region, together with the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the Lusatian Mountains, they close off the border with Germany.[2]
