Media reported the death of musician and radio manager David Šmídt on 21 October 2026. The news was brought by the server iDNES.cz.
Šmídt was a member of the band Eddie Stoilow, which he joined in 2004, a year after its formation, playing keyboards. With the band he achieved a number of successes and played a significant part in its strongest period. [1] He left the band in 2020 along with three other members. With guitarist Jakub Lenz and singer Honza Petržílek he then founded the project The Carsleepers, which released its debut album in 2022.
He led the radio stations Evropa 2 and Frekvence 1. Later he also worked at the company Bonton and at Dance rádio.
